EDI 753 Request for Routing Instructions
The EDI 753 transaction set is an electronic version of a paper Request for Routing Instructions that complies with the ANSI X12 EDI specifications. EDI 753 Request for Routing Instructions allows a supplier to ask how the purchaser of a load wants the products to be shipped. The EDI 753 Request includes information about the products that need to be shipped. The EDI 753 is generally used for shipments that originated from a single location and that are to be delivered to one or many destinations. EDI 753 allows the purchasing partner to better control their inventory and decrease transportation rates.
The EDI 753 Request for Routing enables a supplier to ask for routing instructions from the buying organization. Once confirmed buying organization will send an EDI 754 Routing Instructions back to the supplier. When the Routing Instructions EDI 754 is received, a final EDI 856 is created to eliminate the risk of a duplicate entry. The EDI 753 is generally used by trading partners that send EDI 850 (Purchase Orders) without finalized routing instructions.
