Not on its own. SAP S/4HANA and SAP ECC can send and receive business documents as IDocs, but SAP does not translate those IDocs into each trading partner's ANSI X12 or EDIFACT format or manage the trading partner connections. SAP Business One and SAP Business ByDesign do not include EDI translation either. Companies that trade EDI documents pair SAP with an EDI provider. Infocon Systems provides fully managed EDI for SAP, translating each trading partner's EDI format into the sales orders, deliveries, and invoices your SAP system already uses.
EDI documents commonly automated with SAP through Infocon Systems include the 850 Purchase Order, which is created in SAP as a sales order, the 810 Invoice, the 856 Advance Ship Notice (ASN), the 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgment, the 860 Purchase Order Change, the 846 Inventory Advice, the 820 Payment Order and Remittance Advice, the 812 Credit and Debit Adjustment, and the 945 Warehouse Shipping Advice. For SAP S/4HANA and SAP ECC, Infocon Systems maps these to standard SAP IDoc types such as ORDERS, ORDRSP, DESADV, and INVOIC. Infocon Systems also supports EDIFACT messages and partner-specific requirements on request.
Your EDI moves with you. SAP has announced that mainstream maintenance for SAP ECC ends on December 31, 2027, with optional extended maintenance through 2030, and many ECC users are planning a move to SAP S/4HANA.
